Cats are like this
The cat has taken over my shoulders while I use the bathroom. She is purring like mad, but I still don't know if she actually likes me, or just wants fresh kibble!

"Kappa Eggs"
A friend from Peru and I did an art trade, kappa themed of course, and along with his sculptures, he sent along these amazing little things:
They are water-absorbing gel pellets that start out hard and teeny tiny!
Put them in water, and after a while you can see their outlines are very strange looking.
They start to unfold!
And become perfectly round and clear! The ones without the dye are invisible in the water, unless you hold it up to sunlight so that you can see the shadow of their contours in the water. The ones with dye are very strange in the water, because you can see their colored middles, and when you reach in to grab them, your fingers contact before you think they will, because the outside of it is perfectly clear.

Adventures in Advertising:
Today, I copy-pasted in some text about a community college into a city newcomer's guide, and noticed something funny.
Spartanburg Community College¹s Cherokee County Campus
See that apostrophe? No, you don't. It's a superscript 1.

Oatmeal Raisin Caramel Cookies
Wow, doesn't look nearly as good as it does in person.
That, my friend, is the most perfect cookie I have ever made.
Standard oatmeal raisin cookie recipe from the oatmeal box, with double the vanilla, but I added Kraft Caramel Bits, which are little bitty balls of caramel. SO. DELICIOUS.

A few photos
Firstly, that sunflower I put in a bud vase is still doing well!
Yesterday we bought local! We went to a Farmer's Market, and bought teeny tiny VERY FLAVORFUL tomatoes:
(I ate one -never mind the itching- and it was SO tasty!)
We also bought a big jar of local honey for five bucks! I've heard that eating local honey can actually improve allergies. Who cares if it doesn't -- I LOVE HONEY. And a jar that big at the grocery store would actually cost more than five dollars! Next time we run out of eggs, we'll get them there, too.
The loaf of bread came from Scratch Brick Oven. It's a very strange place -- just read their description on the website. Anyhow, that loaf of bread weighed easily 2 pounds when I bought it, and I've eaten over half of it already. They make a bunch of varieties - that one is honey oat. <3

Sushi photos!
Nori is so pretty! I didn't know until I pulled the sheet out of the package and the light shone behind it. I had to take a picture.
My first attempt was kappamaki (cucumber). I think I didn't put enough rice in, or roll it hard enough, as the roll was a leetle squashy.
And, because I'm 'MERRIKUN, Spam Lite sushi. I have to admit, it was the tastiest of the bunch.
All three of my lovely efforts - kappamaki, krab maki, and Spam maki. At that point, I ran out of rice, or I would have used the tuna salad mixture I made for the purpose. I sadly do not have access to really fresh, sushi-grade salmon.

Skunkling
I did not take this picture. It has been the background on my phone for a little while, and it is so cute I had to share!

Nature: Rain, Birds, and MEAT
Two things are being shown in this picture above.
Firstly, JUST as my grilling was coming off the grill (on the left), it started to pour. I'm glad it held off just for my cooking!
Secondly, Speed put in a nice shepherd's crook for me to hang my hummingbird feeder on yesterday. And today I saw a leetle hummingbird on it already! :D
This photo below demonstrates the deliciousness I grilled up this evening. Chicken, which was brushed with olive oil and salt-and-peppered, and steak kebabs which were marinated overnight in a really tasty red wine (and various other things) marinade.
Heaven.

We have crossed the Mississippi
We have crossed the Mississippi river into Tennessee at about ten pm. I wanted a photo, but it is quite dark.
